Spence is the work zone safety instructor with TTAP. Spence has had many roles, still does, at TTAP. He began teaching these workshops after the retirement of the previous instructor.
Spence’s first paying gig at the university was as Photo-Editor of the Daily Beacon, the student publication at UT. He began working there in 1985 after graduating the United States Army photography school. Spence’s many interests led him to become an Astronomy Lab Assistant in the Physics department teaching several undergraduate sections.
Upon graduation Spence went to work full time as a field archaeologist in 1990 here at CTR, It was called simply “Transportation Center” at that time. Spence worked for many years in this role until moving on to some other teaching jobs outside UT.
Spence came back to CTR in 2009 working in database driven web design. Spence still carries this role at TTAP in addition to his teaching duties.
In addition to photography some of Spence’s favorite hobbies include: origami, history, farming, cooking and thinking about stuff.
