Tennessee Academy of Transportation Engineering (TATE)
Since 1999, CTR’s TATE program has provided continuing education to engineers, planners, designers, technicians, and other personnel working in the transportation field. These workshops and the overall TATE certification may also be valuable for administrators, legislators, and others involved in policy- and decision-making.
TATE offers a coordinated series of classes that address current topics in the design, operation, and maintenance of transportation facilities. These classes are eligible for Professional Development Hours.
The Basic TATE Certificate requires a total of 54 class hours:
- Six Core Courses
- Geometric Design for Two-Lane Roads and Streets
- Basic Traffic Studies
- Fundamentals of Traffic Control
- Traffic Flow Principles
- Highway Safety Analysis
- Introduction to Highway Capacity Analysis
- Three Elective Courses
The Advanced TATE Certificate requires a total of 108 class hours:
- Completion of the Basic TATE program (54 hours); plus
- Nine additional Elective Courses
To earn TATE Certification, candidates must pass a written examination following each Core and Elective TATE class. Completion of the TATE Basic and Advanced Certificates will help participants advance their personal knowledge and careers.
