WHAT THIS IS ABOUT
Traffic control devices, including signs and pavement markings, are used to convey important information to drivers on the roadway. It is important that this information is delivered clearly and in a way that provides the driver with an opportunity to make an appropriate response to new information. The 2009 Edition of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) will be used to instruct the attendee in the areas of driver needs and responses, the design of traffic control devices and the installation/maintenance of traffic control devices. Specialty locations, such as school zones, railroad/highway grade crossings and bicycle lanes/facilities requiring traffic control devices, will be presented. Upon completion of the workshop the student will possess a basic understanding of the MUTCD, requirements for traffic control devices, traffic control device specifications, and the installation and maintenance of signs and pavement markings.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
This course is designed for local and state governmental employees who are responsible for the installation and maintenance of traffic signs and pavement markings on local streets.
