WHAT THIS IS ABOUT
This training introduces growing positive traffic safety culture to significantly improve road safety in America. Participants will leave the training with a better understanding of the elements that shape traffic safety culture, how those factors interact to affect behaviors related to traffic safety, strategies that can be implemented to improve traffic safety culture among various groups, and ideas about how they can leverage their role (and the role of others) in growing a positive traffic safety culture. Objectives:
- Describe traffic safety as a public health concern
- Recognize that behavior is influenced by beliefs
- Define how we develop beliefs
- Define traffic safety culture
- Identify strategies that grow traffic safety culture

This course is intended for all transportation practitioners determined to improve roadway safety.INSTRUCTOR
Todd Morrison, P.E.
Todd Morrison, P.E. is a road safety advocate as a speaker, workshop instructor, and online trainer. For the past fourteen years he has worked for numerous Local Technical Assistance Programs, Cities, Counties, Contractors, and DOT's. He has taught over 700 workshops and trained over 21,000 individuals. He retired from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet after serving in the Divisions of Construction, Maintenance and Traffic. At the Cabinet, he worked with environmental, work zone, construction and maintenance concerns as a Resident/Construction Engineer, Maintenance/Traffic Engineer, Environmental Coordinator, and as a Branch Manager for Maintenance and Operations. Todd served for two years as Kentucky's Safety Circuit Rider helping local agencies identify low-cost improvements to reduce crashes. He also served for two years as a Road Safety Subject Matter Expert for the Tribal Technical Assistance Program. Todd is an ATSSA certified Traffic Control Supervisor, Flagging Instructor, and Traffic Control Design Specialist.
